Wrong meditation
There are different kinds of meditation are in practice, but the wrong meditation is a harmful experience that can lead to side effects to the brain and body. We rarely hear the word wrong meditation. The most typical mistakes during meditation exist, opening the eyes suddenly, not sitting in the correct pose, over visualization and etc., taking a good inhale, and exhale 3 times around, up to more than 3 minutes that will be the first starting moment to start this method. Our brain will react to each and every breath we take in, if we can’t send adequate oxygen to the brain before practicing, it will not direct us into a quiet, and calm state of mind, and we can’t get prepared to meditate.
Various kinds of meditation influence both the left and right parts (Surya Nadi and Chandra Nadi) of the brain. More than one visualization at a time is not recommended in the meditation.
Only simple sitting and closing the eyes in a lotus gesture are said to be the Meditation in English. Not only doing Meditation but also we can perform the other things like Mantra Japa, Thapa, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi and etc., in the same gestures, so the word “Meditation” is not enough to describe all these things.
Any action that you do forcibly with the mind will result in a harmful condition even to the meditation also.
I found some real experiences of the effects of wrong meditation, which will disturb the nature of the mind and body state are discussed as follows.
- Concentration by seeing a dot on a wall:
It is not good to meditate by staring continuously at a dot on the wall without blinking the eyes. It is often done in meditation classes with the students to improve their concentration levels. This kind of process is the sign of wrong meditation with opening the eyes has been kept aside, if you just stare at something without blinking, as it can lead to severe eye problems and headaches.
But people are even following this process as their concentration statuses will get increase evermore. It is not right to follow or practice this dot concentration in meditation without blinking the eyes. I will personally not recommend it.
- Meditating by concentrating on the middle part of the forehead:
In this process, it can lead to rapid pain in the eyes. There are some very sensitive nerves in the eyes, that are linked to the eyes and the brain. These nerves are also prone to injury. If you do this method constantly for up to 15 days, the headache will begin and eye issues may increase.
Those who knew nothing about meditation were more likely to adopt this method. For the students of the meditation classes, this method was still teaching and made them practice. Similarly, many people will get eyesight and some will get brain-related issues and other problems. So actually this meditation technique is also not correct. If this meditation stands in practice, health concerns will arise
- Do not open your eyes suddenly:
There should be no motion in the body while in meditation. Whenever the eyes are opened unexpectedly, the eyes will observe the light outside at once, disturbing the brain and body which was in a state up to that point. Then you cannot meditate no matter how concentrated you are. If the eyes are open at the time, when the solar and lunar nerves (Surya Nadi and Chandra Nadi) are in a balancing state, the mind will be disturbed.
Such troubles drive you to irritate, and that irritation will be carried all day. so that, you cannot concentrate on the work and can’t make correct decisions at a time. So do not open the eyes in the middle of the meditation suddenly, that may confuse the brain. This is not a good sign of practice.
- Improper sitting posture:
When you are to meditate sit in a comfortable and steady posture. Try to sit in the lotus posture correctly and keep the spine straight, otherwise you may get back pain in a few minutes. First, learn how to sit in asana, then you can sit for hours without any drawbacks. The inappropriate sitting pose can result in various aches of different parts of the body like back pain, neck pain, etc.
- Over visualization:
Visualization is part of meditation. Visualization must be on one desire, more than one want it doesn’t make sense, and the subconscious mind does not understand what type of signs you have been giving to it, and as an effect, it can harm the thought process system. You can’t focus and continue with that issue again. You will suffer from that headache until the day ends. The number of visualizations does not function as per the law of attraction. If one desire or want comes real, then try for the other one. Don’t try to confuse the sub-consciousness mind with more than one visualization. Over visualization is also said to be a wrong sign for Meditation.
- Very rare cases Hallucination may happen:
People who are in the practice of meditating usually do not want to speak to anyone. They like to remain away from the community for peacefulness. In very rare circumstances the people who are habituated to do a deep visualization may become subject to hallucination. Believing in the law of attraction and visualization, they don’t even do the things that they are supposed to do. They are in the hallucination that the money will flow to them automatically without doing the work.
Law of Attraction, visualization always shows the sources to get the money, but money should not be brought straight to our feet. Visualize the dream to create the sources to get rich or healthy, without doing the work you can't get anything by simply visualization blindly.
This is the mistake that many people make. Visualize that health will improve, and money will come. But completely basing on such an illusion will be a bad sign of meditation.
- Conclusion:
Some people
think that daily practicing meditation feel that disconnect from their way of
living style, and lose their community, friends. They don’t like to be in longer relationships with their relatives and families and so on
One thing is to
remember to everyone that meditation is different from visualization.
Visualization is the process of creating what you want, and meditation means
getting the energy you need to create what you want. Many people do meditation
as a visualization without knowing the difference between the two. By practicing
this way, there will be no use in doing nonstop for 18 hours.
If someone is
on one thought for 18 hours, that thought becomes real. Meditation is when
someone does non-stop for 18 hours, will get the same energy as the sages.
Meditation is
to keep our minds and breathe in control. The main aim of meditation is to
relax our bodies and mind. To become a successful mediator avoid the mistakes as
above described.
