Introduction:

People in India will follow some superstitions regularly. They don't know the logic and reasons, they are in the mindset if we didn't follow the superstitions something will going to happen badly. Here are some superstitions explained.

Blackcat crossing on your path.

In Indian ancient times, Bullock carts/Carts are used by the people who are traveling in the forests carrying the kerosene lantern.

Some animals like leopards, Jackal, Donkeys, and large dogs will be passed, these carriage animals had glowing eyes which will get scared the cows or horses of the carts.

Then the Bullock carts/Carts are taken to a halt of some time for the refreshing the carriage animals themselves. Because they have to pull the Carts for the Long journey.

But unfortunately, the cats crossing the paths got to live, and now we are believing in domestic cats instead of forest cats.

Haircut on Tuesday:

The large population of Indians in the older days were farmers. Monday they took rest after a weekdays fo working. On that day people are done only for the household purposes like cleaning their homes and going to saloons.

So, from Tuesday onwards they again went to farming work, no one goes to the saloon shops on Tuesday, The barber doesn't have any saloon work to do, so they will close the shop.

This trend is continued still now and the reason is that is totally forgotten, and other misconceptions are in running.

Hanging lemon and green chilies:

Shop owners believe that hanging lemons and Green chilies(7chillies and one lemon) in front of the shops will avoid the God of misfortune (Alakshmi), which will bring bad luck.

But there is a scientific reason behind this superstition, the cotton thread absorbs the acids which is used to hang the lemons and chilies.

The pungent smell coming from the cotton thread will keep the insects, pests and other small creatures will be kept away.

Breaking mirrors brings bad luck:

There is a simple and funny reason behind this superstition, In the olden days, the mirrors are very cheap with low quality and can be easily broken. To avoid these mirror breaks, the older people implemented this superstition that if the mirror broke, something will have badly happened. But this is a rule continuing as a superstition.

Cutting nails and shaving in the night:

As there is no power/Electricity in the olden days, if they cut the nails or shave at night there might be a chance to cut the fingers or skin because of the darkness, later on, this rule was turned as, if the blood fell on the floor, night sprits will come for the blood and skin, so this rule/superstitions cames that should not cut the nails and shave at the night.

Pregnant ladies should wait inside throughout the eclipse:

As per astrology, Pregnant women should stay indoors during the eclipse time to avoid deformities for the baby inside, or from the premature delivery, and be guided to take a bath after the eclipse is over.

The Scientific reason behind this is, during the eclipse time harmful Ultra Violent rays will directly fall on the earth, UV rays are very dangerous, so pregnant women are not allowed to step out it may cause some deformities to the baby. The windows are doors should be covered.

Should not clean the residence at nightfall:

Sweeping the house in the evening was restricted in the Indian traditions. If we sweep in the evening or night they believe that the Lakshmidevi will step out from the house.

But the actual reason is being of no electricity in the olden days, any valuable items fell on the floor will be swept away. sweeping the floor is not recommended in the evening.

Adding one rupee to a gift sum:

In India, it is common to give money for the wedding and other occasions like 116/1116, they believe that roundoff money is considered as not a good sign because it consists of zero, which means the married couple will end.

So the roundoff money is not recommended to give on such occasions. If a rupee is added to the total amount of roundoff money it assures that will make them continue their lives.

Conclusion:

Our brain will remember negative words/thoughts very easily, blindly and if you don't follow these kinds of superstitions, they believe something negative or bad will occur in life.

But when you know the actual reason behind it, the brain will get free, whenever our knowledge increases the brain also tries to be strong among the negative. Leave the fear if you won't leave the superstition.

Fear is not real, it is an emotion we created by our thoughts.
