33Million Gods in Sanatana Dharma
33Millions of gods in Hinduism/Sanatana Dharma is a false statement. In the translation of the Vedas by the foreign scholars, they misinterpret the fact of Sanatana Dharma. The word "Trayastrimasti Koti" was mentioned in Vedas, the word "Koti" has two meanings one is supreme/crore(not a number), and another one is a "type". According to Vedas, there are only 33 gods.
Brief History of the Gods:
All the 33 devatas have the Trayambakkam mantra which is 33 syllable mantra which is in the Anustupchand, this is like a rhythm in Sanskrit, all the mantras and ancient texts are in many types of Anustupchand's. Each of the "Chanda" has a different rhythm with a certain number of syllables. Anustupchanda's is of 33 syllables and that makes the Trayambakkam Mantra or Mrtyunjaya Mantra in Yajurved.
urvarukamiva bandhananmrtyormuksiya mamrtat||
This mantra was worshiped by all the devas, The Vasu, The Aditya, The Rudra, and Indra.
The 33 gods
are separated in the below structure as 12+11+08+01+01 = 33
11 Rudras
08 Vasu
01 Prajapathi
01 Supreme god
Generally as
we all know about the thrimuthy's, those are Brahma(The God of Creation and
knowledge of Vedas), Vishnu (The god of Sustain), and Maheswara(The Destroyer).
Coming to the brief discussion of the pattern of 33 gods.
